Transport Ministry suggests keeping foreign planes in Russia

MOSCOW, Mar 10 (PRIME) -- The Transport Ministry has suggested keeping foreign aircraft  leased from foreign companies in Russia and pay for them in rubles, according to a draft ruling released on the portal of legal information on Thursday.

The measure will be applied to the leasing contracts signed before February 24, 2022.

If a leasing contract is terminated under a lessor’s request including early termination, an airline should return the aircraft if the government’s commission for imports substitution approves it. In there is no such approval, the airline is allowed to continue using the aircraft until the initial expiration date of the contract.

Airlines are also allowed to carry out leasing payments in rubles in 2022.
